On the 8th June the Teulada Moraira U3A visited Albaida and Bocairent. It was a very successful trip on a beautifully sunny day.

We stopped for coffee in Albaida and visited the beautiful church and the puppet museum. The puppet museum is very interesting with puppets from throughout the world.

After our tour of the old town we visited the ice cave which is just outside the town set in beautiful countryside.
It was then time for lunch. We went to the Hotel L'Estacio which is the reformed train station in Bocairent. The hotel is delightful and set in lovely grounds. The service was excellent and the people very friendly.

After lunch, Mateo collected us again at the hotel and we went to the bullring. The Bocairent bullring is the oldest in Valencia and is carved completely out of the natural rock. It was interesting to see behind the scenes into the dressing rooms of the matadors and the place where they keep the bulls before entering the ring.

It was also a strange feeling to stand in the middle of the bull ring and imagine the noise, excitement and blood that goes with these events.

Three of our gentlemen ran down and up the incredibly steep steps into the bullring and received a bottle of cava each for their exhausting efforts.

We then got back on the coach and arrived back in Teulada at 6.15 after a very successful day out to a part of the Costa Blanca which very few people know about.
