I am having to send this notice of the next meeting out early because I am off the the USA on Sunday for TV interviews and two lectures that I am giving in Providence, Rhode Island, for the Near Eastern Archaeological Society. I won’t be back until a couple of days before the meeting. So here is the notice a week early!
The next meeting will be on Monday 20th November, starting at 10:30 am, in La Senieta. The title of the presentation is ‘The Egyptian Genesis’, which deals with new discoveries that point to contact by sea with Mesopotamia (ancient Sumer). This incursion by easterner adventurers appears to have led to the sudden rise of pharaonic civilisation. I will be taking you into the Eastern Desert to see what secrets it holds!
Now, a tricky situation has arisen. Thanks to the amazing support you are giving this new group, we find ourselves with a difficult audience capacity issue. The fact is that the theatre at the last meeting was full to bursting and we had to put out extra seats. Unfortunately, I found out that this is in breach of the building’s fire regulations. What this means is that we can only accept 185 members into the theatre (filling all the fixed seating). So we may have to turn late-comers away. I am so sorry about this, but there is nothing I can do to relieve the situation. Please accept my apologies if my ushers have to turn you away!
Anyway, I look forward to seeing you on the 20th … and try to arrive early!
